Kyle's Six Month Stunts

Kyle continually amazes us with his developments. At six months he walks (with help) and LOVES it. Mike has encouraged this "natural movement" from birth and I guess it's paid off! I haven't ever seen a six month old walk like this. He does observe and study his brothers all day, so I guess he's ready to go. All I can say, is that I better get ready to start running after all THREE boys!! :)

Kyle has also progressed rapidly in his sitting ability. Even today, just 12 days after this video was taken, he is remarkably better at sitting!! I can now give him a toy (with some pillows around him) and he can sit and play with it while I (quickly) do something else.

We also have introduced his first foods...rice cereal, green beans, peas, carrots, and sweet potatoes. I think he still prefers milk to all of these, but he's catching on quickly.

He is a joy. He loves his brothers. He loves mirrors and he sucks his thumb.

Toy Story

So Toy Story has become the focus of playtime lately, replacing, yes, even Star Wars. Henry seems to go all out on one subject at a time...it started with the Wiggles, then Cars, then Thomas the Train, then Veggie Tales/Larry Boy, and then Star Wars. But we now have Toy Story on the brain--and we're all better because of it! :) I took the boys (and a neighbor) to see Toy Story 3 when it first came out. Since then, we have been watching Toy Story & Toy Story 2 on VHS here at home. I have to say that I have been quite elated with this change...the boys are "playing" with their toys, re-enacting scenes from the movie (my favorite is when Henry is holding Andrew's back as "Buzz & Woody" fly into the moving truck in Toy Story 1), and the newest addition--making their beds and cleaning their rooms!!! :) Thank you Toy Story!! :) It's funny because the movies are mostly about the toys...you don't learn a whole lot about Andy (the boy who owns the toys), except that he has a birthday, he likes to go to Pizza Planet, he moves houses, he has a dog, he has a sister (too bad for Andrew who gets to play "Molly" in some re-enactments), and he goes to cowboy camp. But you do see Andy's room in the movies...and in it the bed is always made, the toys are put away in their toy box (until they "come alive"), and apparently the floor has a rug on it. Henry has been making his bed now for the last few weeks...PERFECTLY. Friday, he asked if he could take a toy box from our living room up to his room and he cleaned up all of his toys. He also shoved all of the shoes that Andrew had strewn across the room back into the closet. TONIGHT he actually took the bathroom rug and put it in his room. He also asked me to vacuum. And when he took his pajamas out tonight, he told Andrew, "Now Andrew, we can't make a mess." Who is this kid?!! :) I love it. Lots of props to the Toy Story writers!!!

Funny Sayings

So the kids continue to amaze us with the things that go on in their creative little minds. Here are some cute phrases that I wanted to document--because I want to treasure these times!!

Tonight over dinner Henry asked, "Daddy-when was the first time you threw up?"

We like to play "hide the toy" where someone hides a toy and then gives clues to find it. Andrew took a toy upstairs once to hide and I asked, "Are you going to come down and tell us after you hide it?" He replied, "Maybe so."

This morning we told Henry to say good morning to his brother, so Henry says, "Good Morning Andrew!" Andrew replied, "I forgive you Henry." So we say, "Andrew can you say good morning back to Henry?" So he says, "Good morning Henry." Henry smiles. Then Andrew says, "Henry now you say 'I forgive you.'"

Just a pronounciation issue: the boys say correctors instead of characters.

To Andrew: chess=chest, pawn=pond, bishop=spaceship.

About a month ago we went to the zoo. On the way we asked the boys what they wanted to see while we were there. Henry said an alligator, Andrew said a grasshopper. We weren't sure exactly where we might find a grasshopper, so we started in the reptile house to see the alligator. As I was watching a snake with the boys in one case, Andrew looks over in the next case and shouts, "Look, a grasshopper!" He was SO excited and watched him sit on a branch for longer than most people watch the "zoo food." We were happy that Andrew got to see his grasshopper (and was so proud of himself for finding it) AND that he lost interest before the lizard in the cage also spotted the grasshopper.
