My sweet, snuggly baby is now a sweet, snuggly one year old!! :) He is quite the cutie pie...following after his big brothers in many respects (he even knows what to do with a lightsaber!)! He loves to be held (all day) and is now a good sleeper at night (although an early riser like his brothers -- and mama too). He walks everywhere and can go down stairs, slides, dishwashers, highchairs, etc. :) He has a very cute smile and likes to be held upside down. We think he says dada, mama (not often), mmmmm (for more), up, and maybe mmmmm (for milk).
When planning his b-day party, the only thing I came up with that he really LOVES to do is this "creepy, crawly, little flea" rhyme that I do with him. So that is what inspired his one year old Bug Bash.
Complete with ants on logs, worm breadsticks, grape bugs, bug juice, gummy bugs/worms--with this REALLY fun picker upper that lit up the bugs when you picked them up...(it came with a pack of the gummy bugs at the dollar store)!

And of course, no Monahan party is complete with out a bunch of games. However, since we had maxed our house's capacity with guests (especially since 12 of them were boys -- 5 and under), I was relieved that when chaos would begin, we could chime in with another "organized" activity!! :) 
Ignore the messy toys, but the boys are throwing bugs into a hanging frog basket thing. They also looked for glow-in-the-dark bugs in the basement and played the games "Bed Bugs" and "Cooties" (actually, I'm not sure if Cooties ever got played).
This is one of my favorite ideas I found online...lick & stick the mini-Oreo spot on the ladybug!! The kids liked this one too, probably because Mike did a fantastic job of MCing it. And yes, Henry did pull a random one off and ate it after the party before I took it down--ugh. :)
We did some crafts....egg carton caterpillars and parmesan cheese container "Hungry Caterpillars" which were more of a hit than I thought! :) We also read the Very Hungry Caterpillar, and as a last minute keep-them-organized-attempt, we played bug, bug, spider (or whatever they made up), which did result in one minor injury (more minor than the can falling out of the basement ceiling on a boy's head when he pulled on the hanging frog).Kyle, hope you had as much fun as we did!! We're all thrilled you're one and look forward to seeing you grow even more this year! :)
