Mike's birthday (Dec. 17th), brought Mike's "new toy" which he received from my parents. It's a Telecaster electric guitar that in just a few short weeks has already proved it's worth! Mike has begun to record some songs (on the computer) that he has written over the years. Hopefully we can post some on here soon!
We left town on the 20th, driving with two angelic kids the 11 hr. trip to Denver (9 if you don't stop...but even with angelic kids we stopped). Mike and I are proud that the boys still are unaware that the portable DVD player works in the car. They seemed to entertain themselves with books & toys & songs & scenery well enough!! (By the way we drove by the Denver Airport just as the plane was sliding off the runway...we saw all the emergency vehicles going the opposite direction. Glad we didn't fly this year!) Other highlights of our week in Denver:
-two trips to the Littleton Community Center's indoor pool. Henry can swim -- head under! :)
-my Christmas present from Mike's mom (and perhaps best date ever!) - a night out with Mike at the Melting Pot -- complete with babysitting, roses on the table, a personal chauffer with Santa hat & Christmas music, and some terrific food & wine! (Highly recommend!!) :)
-seeing the Monahan/Reiter/Brady/Worthington relatives (& guests)
-a crazy fun/heated Apples to Apples game with Luis (Karl & Tracy's foreign exchange student) winning it all fair and square!
-an extended round of opening presents--some Christmas a.m., some that afternoon, some even the NEXT morning (as various family members arrived)! Thanks for all the gifts everyone!
-a trip to the Museum of Natural History to see some dinosaurs!
-a fun time at the Art Museum with Mike & Luis
and Henry's highlight a TRIP ON THE TRAIN with Grampy and Uncle Matt!!! See picture! (Denver's light rail is very convenient and stops right in Littleton! We hope KC gets one someday!!) -and a nice 11 hr. drive home -- again with two angelic boys.
Mike worked Monday through Wednesday and then we got to celebrate New Year's Eve (for their second annual party) with our friends the Lyons (friends from Italy that also live in KC)! We made it to 10:30 thanks to two very good and late naps! :) New Years Day we celebrated with my sister & her family. The last 8 days have been filled with a happy three year old & a teething one year old!
So that catches us up! We head to a hopefully warm/sunny California in just 9 days to visit our friends Melody & Greg (& family) in LA & Barbara & Jay in San Jose! Yippee!
